Samsung has announced its Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available exclusively at the Union Square Best Buy store in New York City starting on June 8, with availability expanding to all Best Buy locations on June 17. The WiFi-enabled tablet measures only 8.6 millimeters slim, making it the thinnest mobile tablet currently available in the world. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 starts at $499 for the 16GB model, with the 32GB version coming in at $599.
Reviewers, many of whom got their hands on one when Samsung and Google were giving them out to Google I/O attendees last month, seem to be liking the Galaxy Tab 10.1 which resembles the iPad 2 but with Android Honeycomb on board. Engadget’s Darren Murph wrote, “Checking in at a sliver of a pinch thinner than the illustrious iPad 2, Samsung’s rethought-out, redesigned and definitely-not-renamed Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the first Android tablet to date that seriously goes toe-to-toe with Apple in both specifications and design.”
People itching to get their hands on one can pre-order the Galaxy Tab 10.1 online or in a Best Buy store beginning June 8.
