A Whopping 61 Percent of U.S. Adults Online Now Use Social Networks

A recent study by Pew Research had found some amazing stats about how dominant the online world is becoming. They have found that 61 percent of U.S. adults online are now using social networks. I found this number staggering. If you are a company or a brand who isn’t sure if using the social web is for you, look at these stats CAREFULLY!

The Internet is quickly taking over every facet of our lives. Media distribution is slowly changing to meet the needs of consumers, but I don’t think it’s moving fast enough. If businesses want real ROI from advertising they need to be smarter about how they are promoting their products on the social web. A massive number of consumers are there now and these people represent a highly engaged portion of the consumer base.

Someone who interacts with your brand online is much more savvy about technology and these people are normally the ones you need to get to. The type of consumer that you are selling to will greatly impact your bottom line, and the Internet represents a gigantic pool of the world’s most active consumers.

Here are a few more mind blowing stats from the Pew study:

- 92 percent send or receive e-mail
- 78 percent use the Internet to get news
- 46 percent upload shareable photos online
