Nook Color is Popular With the Ladies

It seems Barnes & Noble’s marketing campaigns targeting women as the lead consumers of their Nook Color have paid off. According to the New York Times [1], the e-reader’s sales women’s magazines such as O, The Oprah Magazine, Cosmopolitan, and Women’s Health rival and in come cases even surpass sales on the iPad. Recent best-seller lists on the Nook also represent this trend, with women’s magazines trouncing men’s magazines in the top 20 list.
The Nook’s successful magazine sales has put magazine publishers who were initially hesitant to put content onto a tablet only on the market since November at ease. Barnes &Noble would not disclose the exact number of Nook Color’s sold, but did claim it is the most successful product in the company’s history. And since the bookseller remains the second largest seller or newsstand copies of magazines after Walmart, its relationship with publishers should only grow alongside Nook Color’s growing sales.
