I had the pleasure of meeting Steve Spurgat, CEO and founder of VYou.com, at Columbia School of Journalism’s Social Media Weekend. Of course it was in the aptly named session, “New Social Tools & Services You Should Know.” So what is VYou and who gave them $3 million dollars?
VYou allows people to broadcast video structured as conversations, offering the most personal form of social interaction on the web. It works like this: you record video responses to messages entered by friends and fans. VYou organizes their messages and your videos into conversations, making the experience feel continuously live even though the content is stored. So think of VYou as a combination of Quora and YouTube.
According to TechCrunch, VYou is announcing today $3 million in Series A funding, lead by RRE Ventures and Highland Capital Partners and followed on by High Peaks Ventures, Broadway Video Ventures, Kevin Wall, David Tisch and Rick Webb.
