
Want a glimpse into the future of smartphones? Check out eYeka, a crowd-sourcing company that lets community members co-create products. The community developed prototypes based on a set of requirements that included minimalistic design, an extension of the human body, transparency, and the ability to “life guide,” notes ReadWriteWeb’s Richard MacManus.
Watch video of these concept phones at the site: the “Flexphone” features a folding screen and the “Roundphone” uses gestural controls and holographic projections (think: Princess Leia calling on Obi Wan to help the Rebel Alliance). While the devices might not be in the next lineup of phones from Nokia or Ericsson, don’t be surprised if some of the features end up in “whatever is the next iPhone,” says MacManus.
