
The jury is still out but, of course, many in the gaming world have their opinions. There’s what we do know: Nintendo plans to introduce its new Wii 2 (though it’s not confirmed it that’s its official name) at next month’s E3 trade show in Los Angeles. It’s said to be released early next spring, but that too could change. More people are wondering if, and how, Nintendo will step up its game with its new product.
After a four year run of being able to successfully capture the attention of nontraditional gamers, the company has seen its sales drop-25 percent in 2010. Other companies like Sony and Microsoft have since released motion control systems that are equal to, or better than, the Wii, thus decreasing consumer interest in Nintendo. While while the gaming company has the capability to release another crowd pleaser, gamers and analysts aren’t sure what they bring to the table will be enough to keep them in the game.
