
The app universe continues to expand. As part of the Nook Color update, Barnes & Noble is a taking a chip at Apple’s iPad and Amazon’s Kindle with the announcement of Nook Apps. Beginning today, Nook Color customers can take a break from reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to fool around with 125 new Android-OS-based applications, including such literary fare as Aces Bubble Popper, Angry Birds, Cheese Plate, and Uno. (To be fair, there is also a Goodreads app, and a Nook WordOfTheDay.) Barnes & Noble says it plans to build the library of apps by working with more than 5,000 registered developers.
