Social Networks Modern Form of Madness?

Unhealthy obsession with Justin Bieber posts on Facebook? It might be pathological, according to a new book by an MIT professor.

This just in from The Telegraph: apparently hitting like on every Justin Bieber post and posting every photo from your iPhone on Facebook within seconds of taking them is a form of modern madness. The report, which is really a summary of a new book by MIT professor Sherry Turkle called Alone Together,  says much of this activity is actually pathological and perhaps a little scary. According to the article:

“[Turkle] explains that people are becoming isolated from reality due to such social networking sites because technology is dominating our lives and making us “less human”. Under the illusion of allowing us to communicate better, technology is actually isolating us from real human interactions in a cyber-reality that is a poor imitation of the real world, she suggests.”
